Pica
Question:

Have you ever heard of or have any information on a disorder wherein a child would pick and eat fuzz off a blanket? They said this is a compulsive
disorder, but I am wondering if it has a nutritional basis.

Doctor George's reply:

The craving for odd foods for at least a month is called pica. If it occurs in adults, and usually in pregnant patients, a nutritional deficiency (such as iron-deficiency anemia) could also be identified.
